James Watson (pictured), a Professor of Conservation Science and the Director of the Centre Biodiversity and Conservation Science at the University of Queensland, has watched as the natural world he so loves being destroyed.
He did his PhD research on Madagascar and reports in this conversation that the littoral forests he so loved there have been stripped, the sand below mined by Rio Tinto and, subsequently, the critical biosphere absolutely desecrated.
James says negotiations about the preservation of our biosphere are happening right now and he suggests this is our one and last chance to get it right.
